He was born in Teziutlan, Puebla, Mexico. He graduated as a doctor in the Facultad de Medicina of the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, UNAM. Postgraduate in pediatrics at the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS). He studied genetics in internal medicine at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, in the USA. Author of several books and articles on genetics. Professor of clinical genetics.
